Spring Broken

I'm having writers block again, so I am just going to tell you about my spring break so far.  I work at a college, which means that I get a week off for spring break!

I LOVE having a week off for spring break!

Today I slept until 9, ate a bagel in front of the TV, and played Angry Birds with the boys.
I'm wearing a really old sweatshirt, shorts and chanclas (flip flops).  I have no makeup on, my hair is in a chongo (ponytail) and my glasses are on.  I should go to Wal-Mart so someone can surreptitiously snap a photo of me on their phone and post it to facebook with the caption "Seriously?".

Spring break is great.

Of course the kids have spring break too.

Some moms take advantage of Spring Break to take their kiddos on exciting field trips to explore their environment.

Not me!

I spend spring break catching up on facebook and doing laundry.  And watching TV.  We're watching a lot of cartoons. A LOT of cartoons. And Nick. And Cartoon Network. And Disney Channel.

In case you were wondering, the New Scooby Doo sucks as bad as you think it would.  But Good Luck Charlie and Shake It Up are really good.  Fairly Odd Parents is horrible, but Phineas & Ferb is awesome.  Johnny Test reeks, but Regular Show is fresh and funny.  Star Wars the Clone Wars is dreadful (even though Luke loves it), but Adventure Time is charming.

At this rate, by the time Spring Break is over, we will be a house full of neanderthals.

Then we'll go to Wal-Mart!

  1. Bad TV, no makeup and no schedule? That sounds HEAVENLY. And it's only Tuesday! Enjoy every last second!

  2. Sounds like the perfect spring break to me!! My son is on spring break this week, too. But mine isn't for a few weeks still. However, I have a sneaky suspicion it's gonna look a whole lot like yours. ;-)

  3. My second career as a substitute teacher lets me enjoy the joys of spring break, Christmas vacation, and summer vacation. I love it. Today I straightened my house, washed a load of whites, Facebooked and Pinterested. I wore my most comfy yoga pants that have a hole in the knee and my Boston Fireworks Spectacular t-shirt with my sequined flip-flops. My look was completed by no make-up and hair that was brushed but not styled. God I love the education field. I should have done this 30 years ago!

  4. My son LOVES Phineous and Ferb. He made a Perry the Platy-bus for his pinewood derby.
Enjoy your break. You sure deserve it.

  5. The days I spend in front of the TV watching every carton possible are some of my favorite. I'm quite fond of Cartoon network and Boomerang. (I don't know about TX but here it's all the classic cartoons)

  6. Oh man, you make me feel SO much better about the fact that my daughter and I routinely bond over cartoons. But tell me: do you and your kids agree on which are great and which are awful? Because sometimes Eliza has great taste... and sometimes not so much...

  7. Fuck exciting field trips! You deserve a week of Angry Birds (I think I must be the only person who doesn't know this game), Scooby Doo and eating bagels at 9am.

    Enjoy it, darlin'.~

  8. The school where I work doesn't have a spring break. Instead, we have an Easter Break which actually can't be called "Easter" Break, but "Spring Holiday." Even though it starts on "Holy Thursday" which goes by "Maundy Thursday" which I think is a plot to have people confuse it with "Monday."
But, we get five days off, so I don't really care what they call it. I'll know what it is.
    Cartoons and all.

  9. OHMYGOD YOU DRANK THE PHINEAS AND FERB KOOL-AIDE

Derrick and I watch that show EVERY. SUNDAY. MORNING. Granted, we watch it with a pitcher of Bloody Mary's, but still. That show transcends age. To the point where one of my favorite Christmas gifts from Derrick this year was a stuffed Perry.

    He's a platypus. He doesn't do much.

    Also? This?

"I should go to Wal-Mart so someone can surreptitiously snap a photo of me on their phone and post it to facebook with the caption "Seriously?"."

    FUCKING HILARIOUS.

    1. Dude -- we have the stuffed Phineas, Ferb, and Perry. Paul LOVES them. Tht damn Phineas has a really pointy nose though. And when it lodges under your back in the middle of the night? Hurts. Bad.

I LOVE to read comments. Seriously. I check them every day. Insecure? Maybe.
